Welcome Visiting Artist Shawn Kennedy!
I'm Shawn Kennedy, Musa's dad. I have been interested in Fine Arts since I could hold a crayon, encouraged by my father who is an illustrator, photographer and graphic designer. I took as many visual arts classes as I could throughout college, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and printmaking.
As computers became more powerful and prevalent tools in the design field, I switched my concentration to children's book illustration, which better utilized the fine arts skills I had acquired.
I began taking entomology classes, as I enjoyed using insects as characters and wanted a better understanding of their anatomy. While working on field guides for an entomology professor, I found I was good at scientific illustration which incorporated photography, anatomy, microscopy, drawing and computer design.
