Art Club Member HONORED BY LIONS CLUB International
Ms. Barlow, art club member Kailyn Becker and her parents traveled to Greensboro on Saturday, January 19 to meet up with Lion Ed Burt of the Cary Lions Club. Kailyn was honored at the District Banquet of Lions Club International for winning first place for her art entry in its annual Peace Poster Contest. It was Ed and Becky Burt, as well as a Lufkin parent, Doug Sheppard, who sponsored Lufkin.
Lions Club officers presented Kailyn with a monetary award and an impressive plaque illustrated with her artwork and artist statement. Kailyn's original artwork has gone on to win at the next level and is competing internationally. The Lions will Kailyn and her parents at the State Convention in Greensboro in the Spring to receive yet another Lions Club honor. In the meantime, we will be waiting to hear of the results from the international contest. Stay tuned! |
Bus Safety Poster Campaign ContestCecilia Dahl 7-1 placed third in the district-wide 2018 School Bus Safety Poster Campaign Contest.
Cecilia has been a member of the LRMS Art Club for two years and most notably volunteered during her track-out to assist our resident artist in the completion of the Positivity Murals. She has also served the art department in other ways, including co-coordinating our July Open House and acting in our Spooky Walk station this school year. Congratulations Cecilia, and thanks for all you do! |
