I am excited to announce this year’s Aviation Art Contest, which is open to children ages 6-17. Three NC students won top honors in the international contest last year – and we hope to do as well, or better, this year! Lufkin Art Club Members: Please enter this contest!
New this year: Entries must be RECEIVED in the mail by Monday, January 10, 2022, so let Mrs. Barlow help you enter before January if possible. This Jan 10 date is mandated by the national organization that sponsors the contest so, unfortunately, they are not allowed to extend the deadline. This year’s theme is “Design Your Perfect Aircraft.” What is your perfect aircraft? What would power it through the sky? Would it be big or small? What special features would make pilots and passengers excited to be in the air? Every great aviation idea starts in the imagination of a person who wants to see something new in the sky. Drawing from aviation’s past, these visionaries create aviation’s future. All children who live in or attend school in North Carolina are invited to grab their favorite art supplies (however pencils, including colored pencils, are prohibited) and share their vision of the perfect aircraft. The top three entries in each age group will be forwarded to Washington, DC to be judged in the national competition. The artwork of the national winners will be sent to Switzerland to compete in the international competition. Awards for our North Carolina middle school winners are: 1st Place: $100 2nd Place: $75 3rd Place: $50 Additionally, the school of each winner will receive: 1st Place $100 2nd Place $75 3rd Place $50 The student artwork will be returned to the student if: - The student does not place (1st, 2nd, 3rd) at the National or International level, and - Appropriate return packaging/mailer and postage are provided by the student or school AT THE TIME THE ARTWORK IS SUBMITTED. The contest rules, entry forms, and the required Certificate of Authenticity can be found at https://www.ncdot.gov/initiatives-policies/students-youth/aviation-art-contest/Pages/contest-rules.aspx Additional information is available at https://www.ncdot.gov/initiatives-policies/students-youth/aviation-art-contest/Pages/default.aspx Artwork should be mailed to: Aviation Art Contest NCDOT Division of Aviation Attn: Corbi Bulluck 1560 Mail Service Center Raleigh NC 27699-1560 Email Mrs. Barlow at [email protected] if you have any questions.
