Looking for Art Club Parent Volunteers!
Since many businesses have moved to more flexible remote working situations, are you a parent that may be interested and flexible to join us at art club meetings from 3:30 - 4:30pm -- one or several meetings?
I am looking for not only talented parents who are willing to share art and design ideas and presentations at a future meeting, but most valuable, parents who might be able to volunteer to help supervise a meeting. First, this would allow us to divide into two separate groups who need to work on service projects at different parts of campus -- like the media center project and painting bolts on the sidewalk to support our PTA. Second, another supervisor would allow the students on the waiting list a spot -- the students who missed signing up before the enrollment deadline. Two supervisors can accommodate more members at the meetings.
Thank you for considering this mission in supporting our young artists and club members!
We had parent volunteers supervise all Fall and Spring art club meetings last year! Thank you so much to our volunteers since that allowed us to open up spots for more members!

We're still talking about last year- it was great!
I am so pleased that several visiting artists shared their artistic specialties with our art club members during club meetings in January, February, March, April and May! These individuals are parents -- and a grandparent-- of art club members who are volunteering their time to share their skills with our students! These hands-on workshops will include lessons in drawing and crafting using several different media. Stay tuned for more details. (If YOU or someone you know may dedicate time to share a craft or art technique, just contact me. I will be glad to team up with you for a club meeting session this Winter or Spring.)
2017 was such a great start to this year's LRMS Art Club. Enjoy this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97qgF-dDm3s
Thank you so much to all the parents who have and continue to sign up for providing snacks!
Below, art club students have helped hand craft ornaments to go on our first annual Lufkin Holiday Tree. Please take a look at their creations as you walk through our lobby. Special thanks to Ms. Ferguson, Lufkin's Lead Secretary, for coordinating the holiday tree initiative and including our art students!
Congratulations to the top 3 winners of our 2017 Art Club Pumpkin Carving Contest: Raina Heiselt, Ashley Neall and Lindsay Hall, who were presented the "blank canvas" award! Raina also received a club t-shirt for 1st place.
